UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital are committed to providing the safest and highest quality care to patients. UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, which are part of the University of California, San Francisco, provide services ranging from primary care to organ and bone marrow transplants to complex neurosurgery. Our patients make 750,000 visits to our clinics annually, and our hospitals admit about 30,000 patients each year.

Our progress in maintaining the highest standards of care is reflected in our accreditations, rankings and activities:

• Ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals in the annual ranking by U.S. News & World Report.
• Maintained full accreditation from the Joint Commission, a nonprofit agency that evaluates and accredits health-care facilities nationwide.
• Received 2012 HealthGrade awards for outstanding patient experience and excellence in patient safety. UCSF Medical Center was the only California hospital to lead in both categories and was one of only 10 California hospitals that received the award for patient satisfaction.
• Earned an "A" for hospital safety from the Leapfrog Group, an independent, national nonprofit organization created by a group of large employers to promote high quality, affordable health care.
• Achieved a perfect score on the LGBT Healthcare Equality Index for six consecutive years. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, which administers the index, invites health care facilities to rate themselves on providing equitable, inclusive care for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) patients and their families.
