Women's Health to Offer Series on Aging Gracefully

As part of its tenth anniversary, the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health is offering a new seminar series titled "Aging Gracefully".

"Our commitment to providing provocative and powerful information on women's health to our community remains unchanged as we enter our second decade," says Dr. Nancy Milliken, director of the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health and vice dean of the UCSF School of Medicine.

The three-part seminar series is for women who want to optimize their personal and professional lives as they grow older. The cost of the series is $75 or $30 per session.

The series starts on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Each session will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception, followed by the presentation and discussion at 6:30 p.m. in Genentech Hall at the UCSF Mission Bay campus.

The series includes:

• Session One: "The Mind: Understanding Anxiety, Depression, Alzheimer's and Stress Reduction", presented by Dr. Ellen Haller,, Christine Yaffee and Bev Lehr on December 12.

• Session Two: "The Body: Understanding Metabolic Syndrome and Risk Reduction for Diabetes, Heart Disease and Osteoporosis," presented by Alka Kanaya and other experts on February 8, 2007.

• Session Three: "The Female Brain: Understanding How the Female Brain Works", presented by Dr. Louann Brizendine.
