Transfers
The Transfer Center is open 24-hours daily
to coordinate the transfer of your patients to UCSF Medical
Center. Our center provides centralized services to help
you gain quick access to our physicians and other members
of our team such as nurses, financial counselors, case managers
and social workers. This specially trained team evaluates
the clinical needs of each patient to ensure that the appropriate
and highest quality medical care is provided.
Annually, we help facilitate the transfer
of more than 2,500 inpatients, including women with high-risk
pregnancies. About 10 percent of our hospital patients are
admitted through the Transfer Center.
To transfer a patient, please call us at (415)
353-9166.
UCSF Medical Center has a single phone number that will be the gateway for all inpatient services provided by UCSF Children's Hospital and the Center for Mothers and Newborns. The toll-free number makes it easier for physicians throughout the region to refer, transport and admit patients to UCSF Children's Hospital.
