Nurses Mary M. Rubin, research coordinator and nurse colposcopistMary Rubin is the research coordinator for Gynecological Cancer and nurse colposcopist in the Dysplasia Clinic at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. She earned a nursing diploma at the Johnstown Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and a bachelor of science, master of science and doctorate of philosophy in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a clinician, educator and researcher in women's health care for the past 35 years. Rubin is the recipient of many awards, including the Nurse Practitioner in Womens Health (NPWH) 1994 Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award; American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) 1998 Meritorious Award for inclusion of the advanced practice nurse in study and practice of the art and science of colposcopy and the society's 2004 Meritorious Award for exemplary service to the society. Rubin is on the California Breast and Cervical Cancer Advisory Committee and the Office of Family Planning Cervical Cancer Committee. Nationally, she sits on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Cervical Cancer Advisory Committee for the American Social Health Association. She is a member of the board of directors for the National Cervical Cancer Coalition. Rubin has authored numerous articles and chapters on various aspects of women's health care and disease of the lower genital tract. She is an associate clinical professor at the UCSF School of Nursing.
