Dermatology

Dermatologists at UCSF Medical Center provide the most comprehensive skin cancer treatment and skin laser services in Northern California for both children and adults. We are the region's only center for treating birthmarks called vascular anomalies and diagnosing and treating hair and nail disorders. Other special areas of care include blistering diseases, cosmetic dermatology, birthmarks and laser surgery.

We provide care for skin conditions including epidermolysis bullosa, skin cancers and psoriasis. Treatments include laser procedures, dermatopsychiatry, medications and new procedures such as extracorporeal photopheresis, in which a patient's blood is withdrawn, treated with light exposure and retransfused into the patient.
