Research

UCSF's commitment to finding a cure for diabetes is stronger than ever. Much of our research focuses on development techniques, therapies and new tools. Research aimed at preventing diabetes, both type 1 and type 2, is one of our goals — from identifying and analyzing genes that predispose individuals to the disease to early interventions that stop diabetes in its tracks.

But for most people living with diabetes, a cure cannot come soon enough. The numerous complications that come with diabetes — related to vision, circulation, kidney, neurological and other conditions — will not wait for a cure. That is why the Diabetes Center at UCSF brings together experts in metabolism, ophthalmology, nutrition, endocrinology, molecular and cell biology and human genetics among others in its research.

For more information on diabetes research, visit the research and clinical trials sections of the Diabetes Center at UCSF Web site or search for clinical trials at www.ucsfhealth.org.
