Maureen Shannon, nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner

Maureen Shannon is a certified nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner who has provided care to HIV-infected women and families since 1989. She specializes in primary, preconception and pregnancy care to HIV-infected women at UCSF's HIV Women's Program. She also is a research nurse for the perinatal unit of the UCSF Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group, a perinatal consultant for the Family Health Care Network and a consultant to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Botswana regarding its national Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission Program.

Shannon earned a nursing degree at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in San Francisco and trained as a family nurse practitioner at Sonoma State University. She earned a graduate degree at UCSF and trained as a nurse midwife at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a doctoral candidate at UCSF, where she is researching maternal stress in HIV-positive mothers six months after delivery and maternal and infant adherence to HIV medications. She was named one of 10 2005 Woodrow Wilson and Johnson & Johnson Foundation national fellows in Womens Health for her research. Shannon, an associate clinical professor in Family Care Nursing at UCSF, has published articles and co-authored books on the primary and perinatal care of women, including those infected with HIV, and is an associate editor of the Journal of Midwifery and Womens Health.

Susan Ireland Shea, family nurse practitioner

Susan Ireland Shea is a family nurse practitioner at 360: The Positive Care Center at UCSF Medical Center where she provides primary and acute care to HIV-positive men and women. Shea has worked at a number of programs throughout the Bay Area, including the East Bay AIDS Center, Refugee Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital's Family Health Center and UCSF AIDS Clinic.

Shea earned a nursing degree at UCSF, where she is an assistant clinical professor in the UCSF School of Nursing.

Jennifer Cocohoba, pharmacist

Jennifer Cocohoba is a clinical pharmacist at 360: The Positive Care Center at UCSF Medical Center. She provides training and education to help patients adhere to drug regimens and assists staff members with drug information. She also helps health care providers via two national, toll-free telephone hotlines at the National HIV/AIDS Clinicians' Consultation Center (NCCC) at San Francisco General Hospital. Cocohoba frequently lectures on HIV pharmacotherapy for local health care providers through the San Francisco AIDS Education and Training Center.

Cocohoba earned a doctor of pharmacy degree and completed a pharmacy practice residency and specialty residency in HIV/AIDS ambulatory care at UCSF before joining the faculty in 2003. She is an assistant clinical professor in the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy.

B. Joseph Guglielmo, Jr., pharmacist

B. Joseph Guglielmo, Jr. is a pharmacist at 360: The Positive Care Center at UCSF Medical Center, where he collaborates with members of the medical team to optimize patient drug therapies, conducts medication history interviews and meets with patients to answer questions about drug regimens.

Guglielmo earned a doctor of pharmacy degree at the University of Southern California's School of Pharmacy and completed a residency in pharmacy at UCSF's School of Pharmacy. He is a member of several professional societies, including the Infectious Diseases Society of America, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists and American College of Clinical Pharmacists. He is vice chair of the department of clinical pharmacy at UCSF.

Claire Siverson, social worker

Claire Siverson is a social worker for the HIV Women's Program at UCSF Medical Center. She has dedicated her career to helping disadvantaged people adjust to illnesses. For four years, she served as president of the Coalition for Positive Families With Children, a local organization of HIV service providers who work with HIV-infected and affected families. She is a member of the National Association for Social Workers and is the co-president of Gaylesta, a psychotherapy referral service that assists members of the Bay Area GLBT community seeking mental health services. She also has published articles on psycho-social issues facing mid-life and older HIV-positive women.

After graduating from Oberlin College, Siverson received a two-year fellowship from Princeton-in-Asia to teach at an Indonesian university. She spent another year at the same university on a Fulbright Scholarship studying Indonesian literature and translating the work of Indonesian women fiction writers into English. She then returned to the United States to earn a graduate degree in clinical social work at the Smith College School for Social Work and is licensed in California to practice clinical social work.
