UCSF Medical Center's world-renowned thoracic surgeons provide comprehensive care for patients with lung cancer and problems related to the lungs, chest and esophagus. Diagnostic procedures, ranging from endoscopy to major chest resection, are available. Lung transplants are performed as single-lung, double-lung and heart-lung procedures. We provide both clinical and psychosocial assessment of potential transplant candidates as well as intensive care for the critically ill patient awaiting transplant and lifelong post-transplant monitoring. Active support groups are available to patients and their families.
