The UCSF Spine Center offers a comprehensive approach to evaluating and managing complex spine disorders including spinal deformity. The center combines the care of UCSF Medical Center's experienced orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons.
Spine deformities can cause debilitating pain and seriously impact function, self-image and overall quality of life. Patients with complex spinal deformities need expert surgeons, as well as specialists in rehabilitation, pain control, physical medicine, and bracing and orthotics to implement a treatment plan that accounts for a patient's age, lifestyle and other factors. The Spine Center includes experts in each of these areas for optimal patient care.
Spine Center doctors have worked in the development of many of the most advanced techniques in deformity surgery including implant design, bone graft supplements and substitutes, and minimal access surgery. As a nationally recognized center of excellence, the UCSF Medical Center has the volume of spinal deformity patients necessary to ensure a depth of clinical experience for even the most rare spinal conditions.
