Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
Cardiac catheterization involves threading a narrow, flexible tube — called a catheter — through the blood vessels to the heart. The catheter helps create images of the heart and arteries and measures the heart's performance. It also is used to introduce instruments and other materials to repair the heart.
Most patients are referred to the catheterization lab by their primary care doctors. After a referral is received, our staff in Interventional Cardiology will contact you to schedule an appointment for an evaluation by one of our doctors.
If you wish to contact us directly to schedule an appointment, please call nurse Laura Kee at (415) 353-3958 or contact her by email at kee@medicine.ucsf.edu.
