Fertility Preservation Center
Increasingly, patients with cancer are surviving their disease, and many of these cancer survivors have a desire to have children. Cancer treatment can affect the reproductive systems of both men and women, making conception difficult. However, new treatment options have made it possible for many cancer survivors to conceive.
The Fertility Preservation Center provides information and fertility preservation services to patients suffering from cancer. Our team includes reproductive endocrinologists, urologists, psychologists and genetic counselors, as well as embryologists and experts in gamete (sperm and egg) biology. The staff includes providers from the UCSF Center for Reproductive Health as well as researchers from the UCSF Center for Reproductive Sciences.
Critical decisions regarding cancer treatment are made quickly. For that reason, all patients are seen within 24 to 48 hours of calling our office. Our goal is to educate you about all available options, including your options should you choose not to pursue fertility preservation before your cancer treatment. We want our patients to be able to make an active, informed decision regarding their fertility.
