The UCSF Hospitals Auxiliary at Parnassus is a volunteer, non-profit organization that raises funds for much-needed patient amenities. The auxiliary's goal is to provide the highest level of compassionate care to patients at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Children's Hospital.

With the help of donors and friends, the auxiliary raises funds for patient services and amenities including its Special Wishes Program, which provides items and services that doctors, nurses and hospital staff identify to help alleviate the stress, pain and confinement that patients experience. Donations have provided teddy bears for children undergoing surgery, televisions, artwork for hallways and patient rooms, funding for the palliative care program called Comfort Care, waiting room renovations, sleep chairs for families and visitors, toys and a fund to assist families who have lost a child or loved one.

The auxiliary is a volunteer, non-profit organization that depends on the support and generosity of friends. Individuals, corporations and foundations contribute to our "Friends" annual giving program, making a memorial or donation in honor of a friend or significant occasion. One hundred percent of donations to this campaign helps patients and their families.

Fundraising Programs and Events

Other fundraising programs and events include:

• Art Sales — Artists donate their artwork for sale to benefit the auxiliary. Artwork is displayed at the Parnassus campus of UCSF Medical Center.

• Book Fair — The Around the World Book Fair sells books and other merchandise at a reduced price. A portion of proceeds is donated to the auxiliary's Special Wishes program.

• Cell Phone and Printer Ink Cartridge Recycling — Contact the auxiliary for information about where to recycle cell phones and printer ink cartridges.

• eScrip Program — The auxiliary is part of the eScrip program, a California-based corporation that establishes relationships between businesses and organizations that support children. Local businesses, including grocery stores, restaurants and hotels, are participating merchants. After registering for free with these merchants, they make a contribution to your chosen organization based on your purchases. Proceeds help fund the auxiliary's activities benefiting UCSF Children's Hospital. To register or for more information, visit the eScrip Web site at www.escrip.com.

• Jewelry Sales — Twice a year, the auxiliary hosts a jewelry sale where jewelers offer merchandise at substantial savings. A percentage of sales is donated.

• Special Events — Each year, tha auxiliary hosts special events to raise funds for its programs.

• Vehicle Donation — Proceeds from all donated vehicles fund patient amenities identified by the Hospitals Auxiliary. If interested in donating your vehicle, contact us at (415) 353-1366. We coordinate paperwork, vehicle pick-up and other details.
