Transplantation Laboratory
The UCSF Immunogenetics and Transplantation Laboratory provides support for blood, bone marrow, cornea, heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas and small bowel transplantation.
The laboratory is a national reference laboratory, conducts basic research and provides educational programs for health care professionals.
It is a referee laboratory for the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) proficiency testing, a contract laboratory for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), a core laboratory for the National Institutes of Health Immune Tolerance Network and a participant in several national clinical trials.
Our research projects include studies of immunosuppressive drugs, liver assist devices for patients with liver failure, liver regeneration, graft rejection and organ preservation.
