Tobacco Education Center
The Tobacco Education Center (TEC) at UCSF Medical Center offers classes as well as individual consultations with doctors trained in treating tobacco addiction. We help smokers maximize the likelihood of success in their efforts to quit.
The Tobacco Education Center's services include:
Smoking Cessation Class — This class is designed to help people stop smoking. Suzanne Harris, a registered nurse, certified tobacco treatment specialist and former smoker, leads an interactive course focusing on smoking and health, addiction, strategies for quitting and motivation.
Classes involve a series of four weekly sessions held in the afternoons or evenings. Each class is held for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The registration fee is $55.
Relapse Prevention Program — This class is for graduates of the Smoking Cessation Class and provides extra support to help people become and stay smoke-free. The class meets on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.
Doctor Consultation — These appointments are available to discuss strategies and explore medications for quitting smoking.
All classes are located in conference rooms at the Mount Zion campus.
