
Nurse practitioner
Amy Schwartzburg is a nurse practitioner in the Multiple Sclerosis Center at UCSF Medical Center. She works closely with neurologists to treat patients and performs diagnostic lumbar punctures as well as urgent, follow-up, disability and research-related care. She's particularly interested in spasticity management and intrathecal baclofen therapy, a surgically implanted system used to control spasticity by infusing baclofen directly into and around the spinal cord.
Schwartzburg earned a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz and a master of science degree in nursing at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston.
