Andrea L. Harzstark, M.D.

Urologic cancer specialist

Dr. Andrea Harzstark is a urologic cancer specialist who treats patients with cancers of the genitourinary tract including bladder, kidney, prostate and testicular cancer. She is particularly interested in treatments that offer the hope of long-term control and those associated with the least harmful side effects.

In her research, Harzstark focuses on treatments for kidney cancer, especially once the cancer has progressed after standard first-line therapy and the treatment of prostate cancer with immune-based therapy. She earned a medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at UCLA Medical Center, and fellowships in hematology and oncology at UCSF. Harzstark, an assistant clinical professor of medicine at UCSF, is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Association for Cancer Research. She is the recipient of ASCO's Young Investigator Award and the Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award.
