Anthony Azakie, M.D.

Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery

Dr. Anthony Azakie is a pediatric heart surgeon who specializes in neonatal and pediatric heart surgery in the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Pediatric Heart Center. He treats a variety of congenital heart defects in collaboration with the echocardiography service, catheterization lab, electrophysiology program and pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. Azakie treats patients in the Adult Congenital Heart Program where he focuses on surgery for adults with congenital heart defects. Azakie is a professor in residence in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery. His research focuses on finding advances in neonatal and pediatric heart surgery techniques for complex defects in high-risk patients.

Azakie completed a medical degree at McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal, a residency in surgery at UCSF and residencies in cardiovascular surgery and pediatric cardiac surgery at the University of Toronto Hospital. He completed a fellowship at University of Toronto Hospital for Sick Children in Congenital Heart Surgery.
