Stanley J. Rogers, M.D.

Bariatric and laparoscopic surgeon

Dr. Stanley Rogers is chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery and director of the Bariatric Surgery Center and Liver Tumor Ablation Program at UCSF Medical Center. His interests and expertise are in minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery, surgery for obesity called bariatric surgery, laparoscopic treatment of liver tumors and radiofrequency thermal ablation, and foregut surgery to treat conditions including benign and malignant disorders of the esophagus, stomach, bile ducts and gall bladder. Other areas of expertise include hernia surgery and surgical endoscopy.

Rogers treats patients at UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus and the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at Mount Zion as well as San Francisco General Hospital where he is co-director of Videoendoscopic Surgery, and a staff and trauma surgeon. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and American Gastroenterological Association. He is an associate professor of surgery at UCSF, conducts resarch and supervises residents and fellows. He earned a medical degree at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and completed an internship and residency in general surgery and a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery at UCSF, before joining the faculty in 1999.
