John Park, M.D.

Oncologist and breast cancer specialist

Dr. John W. Park is an oncologist who specializes in breast cancer treatment and research. In his laboratory, Park works to develop novel technologies to study and treat cancer. His research includes new forms of immunotherapy such as antibodies, immunoliposomes and vaccines targeted against cancer cells. He also conducts clinical trials to evaluate new technologies and treatments for cancer patients. Park was also a visiting scientist at Genentech, Inc. where he performed research on Her2/Neu, a receptor protein on breast cancer cells, and Herceptin, a new treatment that acts as an antibody to Her2Neu. Park joined the UCSF Medical Center in 1992 as an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine.
