Michael Prados, M.D.

Neuro-oncologist

Dr. Michael D. Prados is an expert with over 25 years in treating adults and children with brain tumors and supervising their care. He also is director of the UCSF Translational Research in Neuro-Oncology. The National Cancer Institute's North American Brain Tumor Consortium, which sponsors studies of brain tumor treatments, is based at UCSF under his leadership.

Prados earned a medical degree from Louisiana State University (LSU). He completed an internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and residency training at LSU. Later, he accepted a fellowship in neuro-oncology at UCSF and joined the faculty in neurological surgery. He is board certified in internal medicine with a specialty in medical oncology. He also is principal investigator or researcher of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium for clinical trials at UCSF. Prados, a professor of neurological surgery, is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Children's Oncology Group.
