SF Fire Chief, Firefighters at UCSF's Children's Heart Day on Feb. 14

WHEN: 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 14

WHERE: UCSF Children's Hospital, 505 Parnassus Ave., San Francisco. Reporters/photographers ask for UCSF News Services ESCORT at the front desk.

WHAT: San Francisco Fire Department Chief and firefighters will join young patients in the playroom at UCSF Children's Hospital to make valentines.

WHO: Interviews can be arranged with:

* SFFD Chief Joanne Hayes-White -- Her youngest son, Sean, 5, has been treated at UCSF Children's Hospital for a rare heart defect. After three open-heart operations and many other treatments, he now is an active kindergartner.

* Dr. David Teitel,-- Sean's doctor and Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at UCSF Children's Hospital.

* Kim Scurr, RN, -- Director of the UCSF Children's Hospital Pediatric Heart Center.

* Children will be available to be photographed with firefighters

CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS AWARENESS DAY:

Valentine's Day is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day across the U.S. and in eight other nations around the world. Launched five years ago by The Congenital Heart Information Network, the event highlights the need for research, treatments and support for children born with heart deftects and for childhood-onset heart disease.
