The School of Dentistry offers professional
programs including a four-year program for a doctor of dental
surgery degree; a two-year program for a bachelor of science
degree in dental hygiene; and postgraduate programs in advanced
general dentistry, dental public health, oral and maxillofacial
surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontology
and prosthodontics.
A master of science and doctor of philosophy
degree programs in oral biology also are available. A bachelor
of science degree in dental sciences is available to dental
students who have not already earned a bachelor's degree.
All of these programs are accredited by the Commission on
Dental Accreditation.
Continuing Medical Education
The UCSF
Office of Continuing Medical Education offers educational
opportunities for physicians and other health care professionals
to help improve their skills as practitioners. UCSF is accredited
by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
(ACCME) and offers over 200 courses a year, including grand rounds certified for CME credit, in all medical specialties
serving over 13,000 participants. The Continuing Medical
Education office is part of the UCSF
School of Medicine.

The UCSF School of Medicine is one of the nation's leading
medical schools, ranked sixth among the 125 accredited medical
schools in the country, according to a survey by U.S. News
& World Report. The school is the third largest recipient
of research funds from the National Institutes of Health,
receiving $320.8 million a year.
Continuing Nursing Education
The Department of Nursing
at UCSF Medical
Center sponsors continuing
education courses for licensing and certification. These
continuing education courses are approved for credit by
the California Board of Registered Nursing and the Board
of Behavioral Sciences. The nursing department also offers
training programs to help recent nursing graduates qualify for
medical center nursing jobs.

The School
of Nursing offers master of science and doctorate degrees
in specialties such as cardiovascular advanced practice
nursing as well as primary care. The school is ranked No.
2 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Six nursing
specialties are ranked among the top 10 graduate specialty
programs. Family and pediatric nurse practitioner programs
were ranked No. 1 and the adult nurse practitioner program
came in third. Both gerontological and psychiatric/mental
health nursing programs were ranked third, and community
and public health nursing tied for seventh place.
Pharmacy Education
The UCSF
School of Pharmacy offers continuing education as well
as other seminars, symposia and events. Information about
the school's lifelong

UCSF's School of Pharmacy is ranked No. 1 in the country
by U.S. News & World Report. The school offers graduate
degrees only. The programs include a doctor of pharmacy
(Pharm.D.) and Ph.D. graduate programs and one program for
a master of science degree. Postdoctoral programs offer
advanced and specialized training for new clinicians and
scientists alike. All programs are under the guidance of
faculty members who are nationally and internationally recognized.
