Research
UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Children's Hospital are among the world's leading research institutions in biomedical and health science. As part of the University of California, San Francisco, we have more than 1,300 "principal" researchers and 3,000 ongoing research projects. Three members of the UCSF faculty have have won Nobel prizes for their work, including research that lead to new ways to detect and treat cancer and the discovery of prions, an infectious agent implicated in rare, slowly progressing brain diseases.
We are committed to bringing research advances to the patients and community we serve. Here's the place to learn about some of our latest projects.
