To Visit Us
Bone marrow transplant (BMT) patients are treated at UCSF Children's Hospital at 505 Parnassus Ave. The BMT unit on the seventh floor is dedicated to treating children with marrow stem cell defects, genetic disorders, cancer and other blood diseases. Outpatient treatment is provided in the Pediatric Treatment Center on the first floor of the Ambulatory Care Center at 400 Parnassus Ave.
One family member may stay overnight in the patient's room. An alternative is a dormitory-style room shared by several other parents in the hospital on the sixth floor, one floor below the BMT Unit. If you desire, other accommodations are available outside the hospital since hospitalization will be prolonged and it is important for parents to get adequate rest.
To make an appointment for a new patient, please call (415) 476-2188.
In general, patients are referred to us for evaluation for a transplant by their primary doctor or specialist.
Prior to coming to the clinic for the initial visit, it is helpful for us to have a complete summary of your child's history as well as results of human leukocyte antigens (HLA) typing of the entire family. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions about your appointment.
