Sarcomas are a rare type of cancer that usually occurs in the bone, muscle or other soft tissues. It typically first appears as a painless mass or swelling in the arms, hands, legs or feet. There are several types of sarcomas that develop in children and young adults.
Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common type that begins in muscle tissue. There also are other soft tissue sarcomas as well as bone or osteosarcomas and Ewing's sarcoma, which occurs in the bone or close to the bone.
