Our Experts
The kidney transplant staff at UCSF Medical Center is among the most knowledgeable in the world. Our kidney specialists are not only researchers who have made some of the major advances in transplant knowledge, but are experienced surgeons who have worked with hundreds of children and adults in need of new kidneys.
The kidney transplant program is operated as a separately organized unit within the Medical Center. Adult and pediatric patients are treated by the same transplant team, but are cared for in separate units within the Medical Center to assure that all patient care is provided by experienced personnel.
Our kidney transplant team consists of a core of surgeons and kidney specialists aided by other staff. In addition to performing the transplant, this group also provides the pre- and post-transplant care.
In addition to the doctors, UCSF Medical Center has a talented and experienced group of nurse coordinators, each with a specific area of responsibility in coordinating transplant patient care.
