Craniofacial Anomalies
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Pediatric plastic surgeons at UCSF Children's Hospital assess and treat patients with birth defects such as a cleft lip or palate, developmental abnormalities and acquired problems, including problems in both the upper and lower face and the hands. Working with other specialists including dentists, social workers, speech pathologists, dermatologists and others, we provide comprehensive treatment for conditions that not only affect a child's appearance, but also their ability to function both physically and socially.

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons offer a wide range of outpatient and inpatient services, including evaluation and surgical treatment of jaw disorders, facial deformity, oral lesions, fractures and other facial injuries. We care for patients with facial and dental infections and extract infected, malpositioned and impacted teeth. Implant and general preprosthetic surgical programs also are offered.

Other clinical programs include hospital-based dental care of dental phobic, developmentally disabled and medically compromised patients and evaluating and treating oral and facial pain.
