Our pediatric urologists are experts in the comprehensive treatment of genital and urologic problems of children, ranging from bed-wetting to serious birth defects.
We routinely perform outpatient surgery for genital conditions such as urethral openings called hypospadias, undescended testicles, fluid-filled sacs called hydroceles and hernias, protrusions of an organ through the wall of a cavity that usually contains it.
In addition, we specialize in treating more complex conditions, such as an inside-out bladder or exstrophy, characteristics of both genders called intersex, Wilms tumor and bladder rehabilitation secondary to nerve tissue lesions, such as myelomeningocele or spina bifida in which a portion of the spinal cord protrudes through the skin.
Our pediatric urologists have pioneered procedures that allow formerly complex surgeries to be performed on an outpatient basis using minimally invasive techniques,involving tiny incisions.
Bladder augmentation, artificial sphincters and continent stomas can restore continence and preserve kidney function in children who would otherwise require kidney dialysis or a kidney transplant.
