Home Health Care

UCSF Home Health Care provides assistance to children and their parents and also to mothers and newborns at home. Our two programs for children and their families serve the greater San Francisco area:

• The Maternal Child Health program provides routine and specialized care for mothers and newborns. Routine care consists of a visit to your home by a registered nurse to check on you and your baby and to answer any questions about breastfeeding, newborn care or caring for yourself. In addition, nurses schedule visits to high-risk mothers who are bedridden both before and after giving birth.
• The Pediatric Home Health Program provides help at home for children up to age 18. As part of UCSF Children's Hospital, our staff works with you and your doctor to develop an effective plan of care for your child. Our services for children include nursing care and physical therapy for acute and chronic illnesses, post-operative care, home infusion therapy, wound care and pain management.

Bilingual staff and translators are available to meet the needs of our diverse patient population. All of our staff who work with children receive training in the special needs of young patients.

UCSF Home Health Care is certified by Medicare and Medicaid, licensed by the State of California and accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
