Patient Rooms |
 |
 |
Our patient rooms were designed with children
in mind. UCSF Children's Hospital is a cheerful place. Whimsical
murals help put our young patients and their families at
ease. Nurses stations are designed with lowered counters
so children can see their nurse.
Rooms for children are equipped with TVs and
videocassette recorders. Video games and compact disc players
are available on request.
Kids take comfort in having mom or dad close by at all times.
We make provisions for at least one parent to room with
children in general care rooms. Other sleeping arrangements
can be made for parents of children receiving intensive
care.
Telephones are located at each bedside, except
in critical care areas. Incoming calls can be received from 7 a.m.
to 10 p.m. You may place outgoing calls at any time.
Special Needs
If your child has a special need or disability,
please let us know. If your child is hearing impaired, pay
phone TTYs (Telephone Text) are available throughout the
medical center. Bedside TTYs, phone amplifiers and pocket
talkers are available for patient use. Books on tape are
available from the Volunteer Department at (415) 353-1196
for visually impaired patients. For any other services or
special requests, please let your nurse know or call Patient
Relations at (415) 353-1936.

to help make your stay a comfortable one. One of the many
services they provide is making available paperback books,
magazines, craft supplies and videos at no charge. To request
one of these items, please call Volunteer Services at (415)
