Family Lounges

Family lounges and waiting rooms, a kitchen and a resource room are available for the parents and siblings of our young patients on the sixth, seventh and 15th floors of the hospital.

Family Lounge -- A Family Lounge is located on at UCSF Children's Hospital in Room M-715 on the seventh floor. The lounge provides a quiet, comfortable place for family and friends to relax. Visiting siblings can wait with an adult in this lounge to be checked by a nurse before entering the patient care area.

Family Resource Center -- The Family Resource Center, provided by Child Life and supported by donors, provides a library of health information and community resources. It includes three computers with Internet access and chairs where parents can relax and read. The center also stocks sundries, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, for the families of our patients. Coffee, tea and cookies are available nearby.

Kitchens -- Mini-kitchens are located on each pediatric hospital unit. You're welcome to store dated and labeled food for your child in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Juice, milk, ice cream, fruit ices and graham crackers are available for snacks. An ice dispenser and microwave also are available. Please check with your child's doctor or nurse regarding food you provide if your child has a condition affecting the immune system.
