Christina Spina serves as the surgical physician assistant and program coordinator for the UCSF Bariatric Surgery Program. As well as assisting the bariatric surgeons in the operating room, she provides pre-operative surgical evaluations and immediate post-operative and long term follow-up care. She facilitates a monthly bariatric support group at UCSF for both pre- and post-bariatric surgery patients and their families.
Spina graduated from Touro University with dual master's degrees in physician assistant studies and public health. She completed her clinical training at several hospitals and private practices with diverse patient populations throughout California. Spina is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the California Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
