Cardiovascular Genetics Program

The UCSF Cardiovascular Genetics Program helps identify and treat genetic heart disorders. The program's team of experts helps identify signs and symptoms of genetic heart conditions, diagnosing problems and providing treatment plans for those with genetic heart disorders.

The program treats patients at two locations in San Francisco:

Mission Bay — Cardiovascular Care and Prevention Center
535 Mission Bay Blvd. South
Hours — Tuesday and Thursday, noon – 4 p.m..
Parnassus — Electrophysiology Clinic
400 Parnassus Ave., Plaza Level, Room 94
Hours — Monday, noon – 4 p.m

You'll need a referral from your primary care provider or specialist to make an appointment. Once you have the referral, please call the number below.

Pre-Appointment

Preparing for Your Appointment

To prepare for your Cardiovascular Genetics Program appointment, please obtain the following information:

Ask your doctor to fax a referral to us at (415) 476-5355. If you have an HMO, you will also need authorization from your health insurance plan.
We also need your medical records. Please ask your doctor to send your medical records to us.
Gather detailed information on medical problems that run in your family. Ask family members if they've had the same health problems as you, or problems such as:
- Difficulty with exercise and asthma-like symptoms that don't improve with an inhaler
- Fainting, black-outs or seizures that can't be treated with typical seizure medications
- Heart failure under age 50
- Palpitations or abnormal heart rhythm at a young age
- Shortness of breath, fatigue and weakness
- Sudden cardiac death

If someone in your family has died from a heart condition, please try to get a copy of theautopsy report.

Parking

Parking at Mission Bay

Mission Bay offers mixed use (public and permit) parking spaces. The garage closest to the Cardiovascular Care and Prevention Center is located at 1630 Third St. with an hourly fee.

Shuttle

If you take the grey Mission Bay shuttle from the Parnassus campus, you can make a request to the driver to stop at the Cardiovascular Care and Prevention Center. The driver will drop you off at the corner of Fourth Street and Mission Bay Boulevard South.
