New Genetic Disease Sheds Light on Body's Water Balance

SUMMER 2005

Hotline for UCSF Children's Hospital Admissions

UCSF Medical Center has established a single phone number that will be the gateway for all inpatient services provided by UCSF Children's Hospital and the Center for Mothers and Newborns. The new, toll-free number -- (877) UC-CHILD -- was created in an effort to make it easier for physicians throughout the region to refer, transport and admit patients to UCSF Children's Hospital.

Physicians calling (877) UC-CHILD will be able to:

  • Speak with a registered nurse assigned to this service
  • Confer with UCSF attending physicians
  • Arrange transport to UCSF Children's Hospital from a home, emergency department, community hospital or office
  • Facilitate inpatient registration and admission

The new hotline is part of UCSF Children's Hospital's continuing effort to improve service to referring physicians and their patients. Another part of this effort has been the expansion of our fleet of pediatric critical care ambulances. Each ambulance is staffed and equipped to provide quaternary-level emergency care to your patients and to continue that care en route to UCSF Children's Hospital.

Physicians may also continue to make consultation calls to High-Risk Obstetrics (415) 353-1787, Neonatal Services (415) 353-1565 and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (415) 353-1352.
