MARCH 2008
From the Vice Chief of General Internal Medicine
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the second issue of Primary Care Connections. It is our hope that the brief clinical updates in this issue will
reinforce the important information you receive from the medical literature and clinical practice.
UCSF is one of only two institutions nationwide with a School of Medicine among the top 10 in both research and primary care,
ranked by U.S. News & World Report. As might be expected, research on primary care is a central focus of our efforts. But it
also is our goal to provide new information in basic science, clinical and translational science, and in community health and
health delivery.
Please join us at one of our over 100 UCSF Continuing Medical Education (CME)
courses. And be sure to tell your patients about our extensive Mini-Medical
School for the Public so they too can learn the latest in health and health care.
We hope you enjoy this issue and sign up for more. Thank you again for your interest.
Best regards,
Robert B. Baron, M.D. M.S.
