Hani Sbitany, M.D.

Plastic and reconstructive surgeon

Dr. Hani Sbitany is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, specializing in reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery. He performs post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, including microsurgical free tissue transfer, implant-based techniques, and fat grafting. He is trained in reconstructive microsurgery, and performs the most advanced procedures for restoring form and function after breast cancer surgery. He also performs surgical reconstruction for defects of the head and neck, torso, arms and legs. Other areas of expertise include reconstruction after skin cancer removal, and general plastic and reconstructive surgery. In cosmetic surgery, his focus is surgical rejuvenation of the face, breasts and torso.

Sbitany's research addresses optimizing outcomes and safety of techniques for fat transfer to the breast, following mastectomy or breast conservation treatment for breast cancer. Sbitany earned a medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Rochester in New York, and a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He has written book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed medical publications, and is a reviewer for two plastic and reconstructive surgery journals. He is an assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCSF.
