Clinical social worker
Julie Paster is a clinical social worker in the Hematology, Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinic at UCSF Medical Center. She provides practical and emotional support to patients preparing for a transplant.
Paster earned a master's degree in social work from Simmons College in Boston after years of working in the business and finance world. She then completed clinical internships at Jewish Family and Children's Service of Greater Boston and Brigham and Women's Hospital on the inpatient general medicine, neuro-oncology and gastrointestinal oncology services. Subsequently, Paster held the position of Director of Client Services for HouseWorks, a private home care agency in Newton, Mass., before joining UCSF.
