

Psychologist
Laura Melton is a clinical psychologist in the Psycho-oncology Program at the UCSF Hellen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she works with cancer patients, survivors and their family around issues related to cancer diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. She helps cancer patients deal with a variety of concerns such as distress, adjustment, coping, grief, end-of-life issues, illness-related trauma, body image, survivorship, family issues and quality of life concerns.
Melton received a Master's of Arts degree in applied health psychology at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Houston. She completed a pre-doctoral internship in behavioral medicine with an emphasis on oncology, hospice and palliative care at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine focusing on oncology and transplants, also at the VA in Palo Alto.
