MyHealth patient portal is a secure, Web-based service of UCSF Medical Center that allows you to communicate with your health care providers about non-urgent health care matters. Through MyHealth, patients can request appointments or referrals and prescription refills, receive lab results, send messages to health care providers, and access health education information.
MyHealth is being rolled out in phases at UCSF. Check with your health care provider to see if it's available to you. Below are some frequently asked questions about MyHealth.
How is MyHealth different than regular email?
MyHealth messages are transmitted by our partner, RelayHealth and differ from regular email messages in that they are secure. Unlike email, which relies on multiple file servers distributed across the Internet, RelayHealth uses a single, centrally managed, secure database that ensures that messages cannot be intercepted, deleted, copied or altered in any way.
What computer hardware or software do I need to use MyHealth?
MyHealth requires only a connection to the Internet and one of the following Web browsers:
Will I be assigned a MyHealth email address? How will I know if I have a message?
To access MyHealth, type the URL — myhealth.ucsfhealth.org — into your Web browser and click on "Sign in here." Then, log on to your password-protected account. When a message is delivered to your MyHealth Inbox, you're notified by email to the email address you provide when registering. The message will include a link to MyHealth to quickly access your message.
How do I know the message is from my doctor?
All MyHealth members — including doctors, nurses and other health care providers — are required to create and enter a secure sign-in name and password to access the service. MyHealth also requires doctors to submit their medical credentials for verification. When your health care provider replies to your message, his or her name will appear in the "Sender" field of the message. If an authorized member of your doctor's staff responds to your message, that person's name — as well as the doctor's name — will appear in the "Sender" field of the message. These are some of the ways we guarantee your privacy and security.
Is there a fee for this service?
No, this is a free service for UCSF patients whose doctors participate in MyHealth.
Customer support is provided by phone or email by our partner RelayHealth from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PST, Monday to Friday.
