We know that advancing age is often accompanied by changes in cognition or thinking. We also know that there are many things that you can do to stay mentally agile as you age. From the relationship between physical and mental fitness, to the role of family history in memory and aging, this workshop will provide you with the tools to stay as mentally fit as possible.
Some signs of aging that appear on the skin indicate more than advancing years, they can sometimes be a sign of an underlying medical condition. In this presentation, you will learn how to spot skin issues such as melanoma, which can be more common in mature skin. You will also learn about the many new and revolutionary treatments for melanoma and ways to decrease your chances for developing age-related skin conditions.
A woman’s risk of breaking a hip due to osteoporosis is equal to her risk of breast, ovarian and uterine cancer combined. A man age 50 or older is more likely to break a bone due to osteoporosis than he is to get prostate cancer. Keeping your bones healthy to prevent osteoporosis may not be at the top of your wellness list, but it should be. In this discussion, you will learn many habits you can adopt now that can have a positive effect on your bone health.
According to Dr. Andrew Weil, who co-authored a textbook on integrative oncology with Dr. Abrams, the best approach for treating older patients is to combine Western diagnostic tools and critical care capabilities with more holistic ideas of prevention and self-healing. In this seminar, Dr. Abrams presents 12 principles of traditional and alternative medicine for nutrition, exercise and stress-reduction that anyone can use to promote healthy aging.
