The UCSF Urban HIV Telemedicine Program works with clinics in San Francisco neighborhoods to care for hundreds of disadvantaged patients with HIV.
UCSF HIV experts use broadband video connections to consult with medical professionals and staff at three neighborhood clinics and a community-based HIV organization — Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic, Maxine Hall Health Center, South of Market Health Center and the Black Coalition on AIDS community center.
Telemedicine, face-to-face consultations offer services including medical and pharmacology consultations. nutritional guidance and case management.
The program at UCSF is the first of its kind in the United States.
