About me

Dr. Anthony Mefford is a neurologist who cares for patients with seizure disorders and traumatic brain injuries, with a specific focus on epilepsy caused by brain injuries.

In his research, Mefford seeks to understand why patients develop epilepsy after traumatic and other acquired brain injuries, with the goal of devising better treatments.

Mefford earned his medical degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. At UCSF, he completed a residency in neurology and a fellowship in epilepsy.

In addition to caring for patients with brain injuries at UCSF, Mefford directs the epilepsy center of excellence at San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC), where he cares for veterans with epilepsy and other neurological disorders. He is also involved in medical education, serving as site director at SFVAMC for UCSF's epilepsy fellowship as well as mentoring UCSF medical students and residents.

A Bay Area native, Mefford is excited to serve the community in which he grew up.
