Ross Okimoto

Sarcoma medical oncologist

Dr. Ross Okimoto is a medical oncologist who specializes in caring for adult patients with soft tissue and bone sarcomas (a type of malignant tumor). He works with a team of surgeons, radiation oncologists and pathologists to provide the best possible outcomes for his patients.

A physician-scientist, Okimoto conducts research in addition to providing care. The overarching goal of his laboratory-based investigations is to improve outcomes for cancer patients. His current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that promote tumor cell metastasis (the spread of cancer to other parts of the body).

Okimoto attended Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Tufts Medical Center and a fellowship in medical oncology at UCSF.

    Dr. Okimoto is an outstanding Sarcoma Oncologist. I have met many across the country and he is among the best. His depth of knowledge and analytical skills combined with compassion for the patient makes him special.

    He prescribed a chemo pill and only mentioned one side effect. I asked about my cancer he originally told me rhabdomyosarcoma last year; during our call he said that's not what you have; I said wow then what do I have? He said something to the effect it's complicated don't worry about it. Seriously!!!
