

Chief of Hand and Microvascular Surgery
Dr. Scott L. Hansen is a plastic surgeon who specializes in reconstructive microsurgery. He is chief of Hand and Microvascular Surgery at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital and UCSF Medical Center. He also is chief of Plastic Surgery at San Francisco General Hospital.
Hansen is a graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he studied wound healing and peripheral nerve regeneration. He completed a combined general surgery and plastic surgery residency and a three-year, post-doctoral research fellowship, both at UCSF. He also completed a hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at UCLA Medical Center. Hansen is the hand and microsurgery editor for the Annals of Plastic Surgery and ePlasty, an online plastic surgery journal. He is an assistant professor in residence in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCSF.
