Friend to Friend Gift Shop

The Friend to Friend Gift Shop at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is a one-stop boutique for cancer patients. Shop with the assistance of trained professionals for prostheses, wigs, books on tape, flowers, jewelry and sun-protective clothing including hats.

Call to make an appointment for a personal shopping session.

Friend to Friend also offers services such as the styling and trimming of wigs and consultations with a makeup and skin care expert as part of its "Look Good, Feel Better" program. The makeup consultation is offered on the first Monday of the month. Get makeup tips and learn how to pamper your skin so you can look and feel your best.

The store is a project of the UCSF Medical Center auxiliary, called Partners in Care.

Thanks to the generosity of Joe Friend, who donated funds in honor of his late wife, Ida, the boutique opened its doors in 1998, in a small space on Sutter Street and later moved to the cancer center at 1600 Divisadero St.

Every time you make a purchase, a portion of the store's profit goes to the Friend to Friend Fund which supports programs and services for indigent women who need cancer-related products.

The shop also accepts donated wigs, if they're clean and in good condition. Those wigs are passed along to patients who can't afford to purchase a new one.

Patients and friends of the cancer center volunteer as sales assistants and cashiers.

To learn more about making a purchase, donation or volunteering, contact or visit the shop.
