The Tobacco Education Center at UCSF Medical Center offers classes as well as individual consultations with doctors and nurses trained in treating tobacco addiction.

Smoking Cessation classes are taught by registered nurses and former smokers — Suzanne Harris, a certified tobacco treatment specialist, and Joan Schoonover, a tobacco treatment specialist. Classes cover smoking and health, addiction and strategies for quitting.

Classes involve four weekly sessions in the afternoons or evenings. Each class is held for two hours. The registration fee is $55.

Classes are held in conference rooms at the Mount Zion campus of UCSF Medical Center.

Smoke-Free Environment

Please note that UCSF Medical Center is a smoke-free environment. Smoking in and around the hospital premises and affiliated sites is prohibited. Hospital patients who smoke will receive nicotine replacement therapy and counseling by our smoking cessation team.
