The mission of the UCSF Women's Health Resource Center is to support women and their families in making informed decisions about their health, and to encourage them to become active partners in their care.

We are committed to providing free information, resources and referrals, and an empathetic ear regarding all women's health issues. We are proud to be the patient and community education arm of the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health, one of 15 such centers nationwide designated by the U.S. Office of Women's Health as a model of women's health care delivery.

Health Education

Finding the health information you need can be an overwhelming task. Our staff is here to help you become an informed health-care consumer.

We offer a number of services to help you learn more about your health, including:

• Lending library with over 2,000 women's health titles.
• Mini-bookstore for women who want to buy books for their own collection. You may also buy books recommended by our staff online.
• Patient education materials covering a wide variety of health topics.
• Classes and workshops about women's health issues. Our Great Expectations Pregnancy Program offers classes on pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting.

If you have a question or would like to learn more about a particular health topic, call or stop by the Women's Health Resource Center and our staff will put an information packet together for you.

Lactation Services

The center offers resources for breastfeeding women, including lactation supplies, breastpumping stations at several UCSF locations, a deluxe breastfeeding glider and referrals to other services.

Resources and Referrals

The UCSF Women's Health Center provides a complete array of services for women including primary care, obstetrics and gynecology. We work closely with a network of specialty services focused on the health needs of women. Resource center staff can help you find a provider to meet your health care needs.

We also have links with many groups and programs in the greater Bay Area that provide learning opportunities, assistance and resources to help meet your health needs. We can help you access community resources with information on topics such as nutrition and exercise, smoking cessation, body image, violence prevention, mental health, pregnancy and childbirth, parenting and more.

Our store offers breastfeeding supplies and accessories, fitness products and books.
