
Nurse practitioner
Susan Janson, a nurse practitioner in the Asthma Clinic and Chest Faculty Practice at UCSF Medical Center, treats patients with conditions including allergic rhinitis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other chronic respiratory disease. In her research, she has studied patient self-management training and how these education sessions can help patients better manage asthma and reduce emergency room visits.
Janson earned a bachelor's and master's degree in nursing at the University of Michigan, and a doctorate in nursing at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a member of the American Academy of Nursing, American Nurses Association, American Thoracic Society, Association of Asthma Educators, California Thoracic Society, California, Association of Nurse Practitioners, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society. Janson is a professor nursing and medicine at UCSF.
