Visiting Hours

Visiting hours are generally 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. but may be more limited in critical care areas. For the comfort of our patients, guests are asked to keep visits brief. If you have questions about the visiting policies or hours, please check with the nurses in the unit.

In special cases, visitors may be allowed to arrive after 8 p.m. At UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital at Parnassus, after-hours access is limited and all visitors are screened by security. After-hours visits must be approved by the nursing unit. Once approved, each visitor will be issued a dated visitor's pass that must be worn at all times.

At UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion, visitors should enter through the front door at 1600 Divisadero St.

Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in patient areas without special authorization because some patients must not be exposed to common childhood illnesses. Please check before bringing children to a patient care unit. We also ask that friends and family who have coughs or colds not visit until they are well.

During flu season, additional restrictions may be in place to protect patients.
