Lauren Karp is a nurse practitioner who cares for adults with blood cancers. She supports patients while they undergo or recover from intensive chemotherapy, immunotherapy, cellular therapy and stem cell transplants. She also performs bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures, procedures used to diagnose, evaluate and treat disease.

Karp earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from New York University and her master's degree in nursing from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also completed UCSF's advance practice provider fellowship in hematology and oncology, developing expertise in several areas within the specialty.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Karp studied anthropology, with a focus on public health and health equity. Her experiences led her to pursue a career in medicine, and she remains passionate about human-focused care. She aims to know her patients beyond the context of their diagnoses.
